Postdoc in Industrial Systems Biology

Are you good with data analytics and want to use it for sustainable production of biochemicals?

We are looking for a postdoc with systems biology/fermentation experience to join our team and solve challenges related to commercial scale production

Your role

Cysbio ApS is located in the DTU Science Park in Hørsholm, just north of Copenhagen in Denmark. We are a team of mainly engineers and scientists working on designing, building, and testing cell factories to produce biochemicals at an industrial scale. We have successfully commercialized two biochemicals with an annual production of thousands of tons. To increase sustainability of biochemicals, the fermentation process needs to be optimized at commercial scale, which is a challenging and costly task. Therefore, together with the Technical University of Denmark, we are focusing on addressing the challenges faced at commercial scale by using a smaller fermentation system that has been developed at DTU Biosustain that mimics the large scale fermentation conditions (https://www.biosustain.dtu.dk/technologies/biofoundry/integrated-fermentation-platform).

As a postdoc you will

  1. Participate in setting up and developing the scale-down fermentation system.
  2. Perform experiments in the scale-down system and generate omics (transcriptome/proteome) analysis to investigate the strain physiology under different commercial production conditions.
  3. Generate hypotheses for metabolic engineering of the production strain and/or process intensification.
  4. Proactively contribute to the design, build, test, learn cycles to further improve strain and production process.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Systems Biology or Fermentation technology
  • Very comfortable working with big data and python coding
  • Have a good understanding of AI based omics models
  • Curious and result-driven
  • Eager to work in the laboratory
  • Organized and meticulous
  • Work well in informal teams
  • Fluent in English, speaking and writing.

Additional practical experience in relevant technologies is valued and should be mentioned in the application.
