Amino acids
The amino acids have applications in the multibillion dollar pharma, food and feed markets. The low production cost furthermore enables the use of the compounds in the polymer industry.
Production of amino acids via fermentation have two major advantages compared to other production methods:
- Economical – If sufficiently high titers and yields can be reached, production of amino acids via fermentation is generally the most economical approach, enabling a cost-effective production of the target amino acids.
- Environmental – Production of amino acids using fermentation relies on renewable feedstocks, whereas other production methods rely on a finite resource. Production of amino acids using fermentation is therefore a much more sustainable approach.
