Downstream purification scientist
- Are you good at designing downstream purification processes of target biomolecules produced by sustainable precision fermentation?
- We are looking for a DSP scientist (full-time) with hands-on experience to join our team and contribute to developing approaches for purification of target biomolecules.

Cysbio and your role
Cysbio ApS is located in the DTU Science Park in Hørsholm, just north of Copenhagen in Denmark. We are a team of mainly engineers and scientists working on designing, building, and testing cell factories to produce biochemicals at an industrial scale. With a strong upstream team in place, we are further strengthening our downstream capabilities.
As a DSP scientist you will
- Participate in setting up and developing scalable downstream purification processes for several different biochemicals.
- Collaborate with pilot and commercial production partners for tech transfer.
- Proactively contribute to the design, build, test, learn cycles to further improve upstream and downstream production processes.
Qualifications
- PhD or MSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioprocessing, Bioengineering or similar field.
- At least one to two years of DSP experience in academia or industry.
- Solid knowledge of unit operations in DSP, scalability and quantitative evaluation of yields and balances.
- Experience in developing scalable crystallization protocols for purification of small molecules.
- Experience in membrane filtration purification
- Know-how on other methods such as extraction with solvents such liquid-liquid extraction, decanter centrifugation, column chromatography is highly desired.
- Experience in final product analysis and impurity quantification
- Curious and result-driven.
- Eager to work hands on with the projects.
- Organized and meticulous, and used to presenting results to partners and collaborators.
- Work well in informal teams.
- Fluent in English, speaking and writing.
Additional practical experience in relevant technologies is valued and should be mentioned in the application.
